    Hi Guys/Girls

I am returning to fold after a few years away from the Audi's, I used to have a 2008 A4 2.5TD sport 163 with the multitronic box and I have also owned a 1999 S4 2.7 BiTurbo (beast of a car).
I never had an issues at all with my 2008 A4 Multichronic but there were a lot of posts about problems etc. now I am in the process of sorting the finance etc for a 2011 A7 3.0TDi 201bhp S Line and was wondering what people think of the Multitronic boxes in their cars? Would you say they have improved over the years and if they are more reliable these days, any general info or input would be great.
I look forward to getting back into the Audi world very soon :-)

    Scott.

    Hi Scott

I currently have the same model and year that you are looking to buy and had a few reservations when purchasing due to the negativity around the multitronic both in reliability and operation. Mine has been spot on since day one and i am on 52k now. Mostly motorway mileage and not asking too much of it the majority of the time though. As you have had a multitronic before i presume you know it is quite a lazy 'box compared to the others available, it can do the speed to an extent if you want it to, just throw it into sport mode. The excellent fuel consumption is a major bonus with a car this size. I am sure some owners out there have had a bad experience so would be great to hear from them.

    Hi Joey

Thanks for the info mate, much appreciated, to be honest it has been a good while since I owned my last Audi with this box but I also never had an issue with it, I am looking forward to the laziness of it oddly enough, I get fed up with changing manual sometimes lol. I do also owm a BMW M5 for those times when I just want to go for a blast and race through the gears anyway haha.
What has your mpg been like since owning the car? The book says 53.3mpg combined but would be nice to get a "real" figure under normal conditions instead of the made up conditions in a factory :-)
How do you rate the car overall? Glad you bought it or wish you had gone for something else?

    Scott.

I agree with the laziness of an auto, it certainly helps if you have an M5 though for the 'driving'. It goes without saying that you wont get the book figure on mpg but i can touch 50 on the motorway if I take it easy. Round town can vary from 30 to 40 to be honest. I love the car that much that I have just ordered a new one, after having a look at everything else out there I can't get near the A7 imo. I still love the look of the interior and exterior plus the exclusivity of A7's even living in Manchester is a bonus.

I have 75K miles on mine and it runs fine. My last car, a 2002 A6 with multi did 166K before i sold it, but I felt that the box was juddering a bit. The new box is much better, and accelerates from a standstill much quicker, but my wife still thinks it is much slower than her Q5 stronic from a standing start.
