    Hi all.
I find winter to be a lovely time of the year and one the the signs that winter is coming is that the "door threads" changes character.
Those lovely " door won't close, but only bounce back if not closed very softly" threads changes to " HELP, cannot open door/ door won't close/ cannot open door from outside, HELP" I'll try to shed some light over this problems.
All of these issues are related to the door lock mechanism and are mechanical problems, nothing to do with the microswitch or anything electrical!
The door lock are made of the lock and the central locking unit screwed together and looks like pic. 1 & 2.
As good as all of these door problem are about RUST on the pin/bolt on pic. 3 ( pointing at it with a screw driver) and everything that turnes around it. If the door cannot be opened from outside there can be another problem as well see pic.4.
Problem is that lower temperatures makes the steel rod a tiny/tiny bit shorter, but just enough to keep you out of the car,
    Solutions.
About the last problem, simply adj. the steel rod, it needs to be longer, see pic 5.
About rusty bolt/ pin, theese mechanisms can only be opened by an angle grinder, so something on a spraycan have to do, it must take care of the rust though. And if you give it a good dose of rust remover and work the mechanism a bit
I'll say it should take at least 2 yrs. before problem is back!
Can it be sprayed when still in the car ?? Actually - Yes, but you have to do it right and it won't work every time, best is to take it out and drown it in rust remover. If you wants to try without taking the door lock out, first use a screwdriver
and turn the lock latch to " locked position" Then spray upwards into the hole that was covered before turning the lock latch. see pic 6&7 and then work close and open the latch a few times. good luck

    Oh no!

    What happened?

Where are pictures six and seven?

    Are you okay?

I do hope you haven't been run over by a loose moose or buried in a snowdrift or had an anvil fall on your head or something similarly awful and peculiarly Norwegian.

Please, please let us know that you are safe and well.

Then read your camera instruction book again and work out how to put pictures six and seven on here...

    Terrific. Thank you very much.

    I'm glad you're okay.

By the way, have you and Matkring decided where you're going to go on your honeymoon?

I guess my wedding invitation got lost in the post.

    Hey ho.

It's a long way to Norway anyway.

    Right.
I'm trying to address an annoying problem here wich I know many are struggling with these days, so lets take PART 2.

What to do if one of the front doors won't open, no matter what ??

I have seen that many believes that getting the inner door trim off will solve the problem ? ok let's say you,ve cut the door trim in pieces and it's now off, now what do you do next ?
Right ! the only thing you can do is to put a heat gun in there ! And yes it will usually do the trick, but you still need a new door trim....

A cheaper and faster way is to sneak out on the bathroom and " borrow" the missus hairdryer, then run ( before she notice it's missing) out in the garage.
Open the rear door and aim the hairdryer at the opening between the door hingst and the rubber boot ( see pics.)
Be patient and heat for a couple of minutes, then press gently right below the door handle on the stuck door and see what happens
