    Hi all,

first of all my car is a 2001 allroad 2.7t.

is it possible to fit oem a6 avant or a6 avant coilovers to an allroad? If i was to buy a set of a6 avant coilovers for my car would they

    a) be a direct fit
    b) fit, but require modifications/other parts to buy
    c) no chance

My a6 allroad is stuck in the lowest setting, so to avoid any big bills and headaches now and in the future i would prefer just to do it this way (if it can be done). I wont be using the car off road at all, so dont realy need the air suspension.

    any help appreciated.

    cheers, dave

I don't know but I would think it's not possible buddy, I would think the setup is totally different because the all road never had anything but air suspension.

I think fixing the air suspension would be my suggestion.

    Ok, I can answer this.
If you find a donor car the suspentions will fit right in, but take great care to get the right springs as there are a lot of different types ( color coded) to different axle weights. But to be honest- an allroad without air suspention ?
    Isn't that vandalism ?

I can see what people are saying, but after buying the car and doing even more research it certainly seems like the air suspension causes a lot of headaches and empty wallets.

Can anyone recomend a good indy around north yorkshire area that can work on the air suspension? Ive looked into audi and they are expensive (unsurprisingly).

It may be an easy fix on mine, so i might get it looked at and depending on the price, stick with it for the time being

Arnott make a coil spring conv ersion kit, but the price is higher than the value of most Allroads at the momet.

Using scrappy parts, you could probably make an A6 suspension fit, but there would always be the uncertainty about the spring rate (Allroad is quitre a bit heavier), so you would need to know exactly what A6 model had the right spring rate for the extra weight.

The air suspension parts are available from many after-market sources these days (check Ebay) so the ourtrageous prices of the main dealer shouldn't trouble you. For example, my no-name air bags were about £160 delivered with a new top mount, so really quite reasonable. Thanks to Bagpipingandy, the Compressor is easy and cheap to fix as well..

The only thing you may end up achieving with coil springs; fixing the Allroad's bloody awful ride quility......then again, you might not.

    Thanks for the info

Ive had my allroad a week now. Ive noticed that SOMETIMES the airsuspension will lift to so the first (bottom) green light is constant illuminated and the car shows no warning lights. sometimes the bottom light will flash and the yellow car icon on the dash will stay on. I can hear the compressor when i start the car.

I honestly have no idea about it and do not want to pay audi prices to repair it. Am i right in thinking a decent independant garage should be ok to work on the suspension or is it a specialist job?

Have the car scanned for faults and see what comes up, clear faults, rescan and see what faults return.
Have a read up on threads, there are some basic procedures you can do to confirm a leaking airbag or failing compressor.
You really need bag piping Andy to comment on your problem, he's the All road main man....

    Hi,

It sounds like the car is sinking below level 1 is this correct? (it will be very low at one corner), if when you then start the carand the car is low, the error light will flash along with level 1 green light and the compressor will kick in and it should try to lift up to level 1, does it do this? can it lift up to level 1?

can you get the car up to level 3?

let us know so we can get you up and running again

to fit coil overs is a complete donor car or buy the kit from arnott, but if it is just a leak £100 - £200 will fix it

let us know the answers to my above questions to help work out more,

    best regards

    Andy
