2008 S Model - Speaker Problem

did you find out the problem because my daughter has the same problem in her 2007 golf. Only sound from the tweeters. previous owner did have something rigged up in the boot as cables going there but all was removed.

No, DMF let go, so had that done.

The position you describe is an indicator of the scenario I posted above where if an amplifier is fitted to the sound system the output from the HU is reduced to suite the amp input. It is fixed by VCDS or in some cases depending on the HU a certain combined button push.

thanks for the reply. Is VCDS, vag com ? as I know somebody who works for an audi garage and they have Vag com. there is a big cable about 5-10mm in diameter that is in the boot so I think they had a Amp in there for sure.

Yes VCDS is the recent name for vagcom.

My daughter is looking to get a new stereo fitted, so when the new stereo is fitted in theory the speakers should work ok ?

fitted a new stereo and its still the same, only the speakers by the door mirrors working !! Am I right in saying that the speaker wire goes to those speakers first and then onto the larger door speakers ? I think next job is to take the door cards off to see if the door speakers are connected.
