    Hi
I'm hoping suspension guru BagpipingAndy sees this !
Yesterday the suspension stopped lifting. There are no warning lights on it has just "stuck" at level 1. When I press the lift button instead of getting the green flashing light there is nothing and no signs of it lifting, it goes green whilst being pressed in but as soon as I let go it goes out.
Car has not sunk on to bump stops and is sitting level. Is this classic compressor failure ?

    any advice greatly appreciated !
    Thanks

    Hmmm, not compressor failure,

so its at level 1 and "looking" ok, if you press the up button does the level 2 green light blink? if it does check the fuse and relay to the compressor,

if it doesn't blink something is wrong, is it in jack mode? best step is to get the fault codes read it may be the N111 wiring, it gave me symptoms of this but that did put the error light on too?

get the fault codes and go from there, if you need to wait for fault codes, check fuses in position 5, 7 & 17 in the end of the dash

    regards

Thanks Andy for the quick reply !
correct - sat at level 1 with level 1 green light on and looking ok. Press the up button and nothing. No flashing level 2 light and up button light not on either
Not in jacking mode. Will it have thrown error codes if no dash warning lights on ?
    Will check fuses

yes you can have codes stored with no error light on although not ussually ones to stop the system,

is teh car running- battery good?

does it notice you pressin the up button (i think it lights the green light when you press up)

can you put it in and out of jack mode?

if the above is all true, and we still dont have fault codes read, for a 1st guess, my punt is the temp sensor on the compressor,

unplug it to see if it then runs when pressing up

    regards

Hi Andy, this is crucial advice. The Independent Garage who now have it have rung to say VAGCOM reporting an overheating issue and that the battery is knackered. So you are on the right lines. They are going to put a seal kit in the compressor and fit a new battery !! Probably too late to stop them doing the seal kit but will call to see if they can unplug the temp sensor first. Is it an obvious connection ? Regarding the question about it noticing you press the up button, the green light on the button comes on whilst it is pressed in but as soon as you release it the light goes out. Thanks

Latest update is that compressor now running much better with new seal kit installed and only faults are temperature related so they swapping the sensor off the mechanics own Allroad to confirm. However, they are saying that you can't buy the sensor by itself. Any ideas if this is correct or where I might find one in a hurry ?? Thanks

    Hi,

just unplug the temp sensor it will run without it for testing, and as long as you don't keep lifting it or playing with it will be fine without it for a short while,

you can buy the temp sensor on its own from a german company, i also usually have some but i don't currently have any spare ones but I will have some available soon too

    best regards

    Andy

    Hi Andy,
thanks for all your help with this !
Assuming that disconnecting and or trying the sensor off the mechanics car fixes the problem I will try and convince them to leave theirs on my car until I can get them a replacement sensor from you.
How long before you get one, how much, and do you want paying first ?
PM me the details if you prefer
    Cheers
    Rupert

    Hi Andy,

Can you please advise if your refurb air compressors have this new temp sensor on? Can you also PM me the details of this sensor, including price?

    Thanks.
