    Hi

Just wondered if anyone has replaced their engine undertray and fixings at any point? Mine is starting to look decidedly tatty and is missing fixings.

Saw this undertray and fixings on ebay and wondered if anyone has purchased one and could comment on quality, etc...

I've got an aftermarket undertray I got from ebay on my A4 and have to say I cannot fault it. I would also rather have something fitted than not.

Fixing kits can be had for about £10 of ebay.

If your current one is tatty but nothing sensitive is exposed I'd stick with that one and just order a fixing kit.

It's takes 5 mins to remove (I have ramps) and about 10 to reattach (as it's a pain to get it right on the wheel arches). Here's my post from last year:

I'm looking for a metal one for the wife's Allroad. I had Panzer Plates fitted to both my A4 Qs, and they don't do the C6 - neither do Thor Evolution
The transmission cover has gone, and the engine cover is damaged.
I'm probably going to have to but both and use them as a pattern (…assuming I can persuade one of the sheeties to make me one!) so I would be interested to know how the cheap ones work out.

Obviously if anybody knows where I can get metal undertrays I would be grateful for any info - I found a company in Romania who didn't reply and a German crown who wanted £400!

Did they standardly come with plastic underbody protect as I thought that A4's didn't have any, regardless they must have had some pretty strong fixings to hold the weight?

I'd think given the contours of the shielding that it's a pretty complex/expensive job to have them custom made

Cheers for the replies - I had the undertray off whilst doing the annual service - so draining the oil, etc...

The undertray is pretty tatty - held together with tie wraps in places. May invest in the new undertray which comes with all the new fixings and then remove the foam soundproofing from the old undertray and bond it to the new one with non-expanding foam or similar.

Sorry to clarify - Panzer Plate is an aftermarket fit cost about £300 IIRC I got it from VW Diesel Parts | VW Skid Plates | TDI Parts | Dieselgeek

Just another quick question - does the A6 Quattro also have a gearbox undertray as well? I have seen these listed on ebay also - I am assuming it sits behind the engine undertray. The reason I ask is because there is nothing fitted in this location on mine - so has perhaps been removed at some point (when new clutch fitted by previous owner) and then not refitted?
