When accalerating, some times the engine is running 100% smooth. But maybe 40 % of the time, it will cheat/spit and making the acceleration really rough.

Spark plugs are changed. No difference. Are there any common problems with this engine causing this? Since its not all the time, what could cause this problem?

    Hi,
I would check the engine mounts. As this was my issue with an A3 a few years back. Found out one of the Engine Mounts (Rubber Mount) were broken. Hope this helps.

Other things to try are cleaning the MAF, clean out the throttle body (making sure you clean the edges of the butterfly valve too) and the sensor bolted into this. And I have rotated the throttle body through 90 degrees to make the air passage smoother. Its not any worse, but it's worth a try!
