Gonna have to be cold to beat the -22 degC or lower that it was here the preceding 2 winters, and as for the snow drifts - just ask the sheep farmers. There was still snow on the ground (just) when my kids went back to school for the summer term!

If you want a laugh, just say "Circle of Kamm" in an Austrian accent like Arnie would. Needless to say, fits of giggles all round when the BMW instructor was giving us a theory lesson before letting us loose in the snow in his RWD cars.

I have this theory about tabloid newspapers and "Scorching summer, people will be dropping dead of heatstroke / Coldest winter ever, prepare for arctic deadliness" forecasts. Fundamentally they just want a headline that grabs the attention of punters.

If (and I do say IF) their forecast comes to fruition then they can crow about it and have yet another front page filler. If it does NOT happen then no-one really cares 'cos the death and destruction did not overwhelm us all.

I guess if they do this type of headline every year though, eventually they'll get one right....
