    Hi

I'm looking to get a Golf 1.9TDI and after looking on the web I see lots of articles about DPF, Con Rods, Limp Mode etc.

Therefore has anybody got any suggestions, as to which year or engine code Mk5 1.9 TDI is the most or least reliable and what to look for when buying one?

    Thanks

From what my specialist told me it's only the vw 1.9s affected by the conrod issue. The Audi BLS is unnaffected. The BLS is also in the caddy, touran and golf+.

They all don't come with a DPF but if your driving style suits a dpf (longish journey once a week) then you don't have anything to worry about.

    Hi

Just thinking my commute is about 18 miles a day on 60mph A roads.

I was thinking of a TDI, but would a 1.6 FSI Mk 5 be more suited to this type of distance, ideally I would like a TDI?

    Cheers

I had a 58 plate Golf Mk V with 1.9 TDI with a BLS & DPF engine line up. I did a daily journey of 13 miles each way got 55 mpg @ around 60-70mph on the motorway, never gave me a problem.
