I think that might be the nub of it. Price protected cars being offered by the dealers probably weren't sold at absolute rock bottom prices, so the dealer just loses some profit but still has a sale. Yours however will probably result in them making a loss, so they're happy to force you into walking away.

We know demand is high, we know there's a waiting list, he knows he can sell for near list, he wants you to walk. It's not nice but it's business. Go in and shout, they don't like it when you do that, makes them feel vulnerable.

Just spoke to another dealer today and they are saying if I order I can expect delivery January. I suppose that can be put back once they have an order!!! Didn't think that was bad if they stick to it.

The price increase has made me look at alternatives such as a black edition as its only about £1300 more.

Just placed an order for facelift Daytona Grey 2.0 litre Ultra Multitronic S-line with heated sets, privacy glass and advanced technology pack. Managed to (eventually) negotiate 21% discount at my local dealer with Jan/Feb delivery. Surprised that they were willing to offer this level of discount, but seems a good price for a car with this amount of kit.

Anyone else have build date around week 48 for a6 avant? Delivery to dealer estimated at 18 December currently. Dealer not confirming if it'll be FL or not,but have stated my price is protected.

Goat, I thought that only the S-Tronic was available as the auto option on the Ultra?
