A4 Allroad 3.0tdi S tronic pulsing / RPM fluctuations ...HELP!

Hi Chaps(ess’s),

I hope some one can help me. I am sure there is loads on S tronic issues but I have yet to find anyone with my symptoms

So I just bought a 2009 3.0tdi S-Tronic (7speed) a4 allroad with 72k and it test drove well. Now having driven it for some time I have noticed that under light/no load the RPM fluctuates approx. +/- 150rpm and the car can pulse lightly. This tends to happen upto about 50mph when the revs are low. As soon as I apply some engine pressure/throttle its stops and behaves as it should. FYI she had a box oil change at the required 40k and is due in the next 7k. Sat at 100 she’s a beauty!

Usual response - get the car scanned with VCDS to see if there are any faults. You could also check and see if there is a software upgrade available for the 'box.

My 3.0tdi would do the same when idling , the revs fluctuate slightly and you can see the needle flickering slightly. I have noticed it since i got the car mapped around 8 months ago.

Hi thanks for your responses. It doesn't do it at idle, its merely when driving under light load. I have spoken to a gearbox specialist and they think that maybe its engine related. I did have a thought that its the fuel filter not being able to suck enough fuel through so I might replace this. Then next stop is to get it plugged in to a computer. Additionally the engine management light has come on - though this was shortly after putting morrisons fuel in, though that might be a red herring. Finally no recalls or software upgrades available according to audi.

Mine has no engine lights or faults as i scanned it several times. Find someone on here who is local to you with VCDS and they will scan it for either a nominal charge or free. Audi will charge you £60 to scan it !!!
