Hi and welcome. I live and work in South Wales but have a house in Sheffield so am up there regularly, normally bring VCDS with me too if you ever want anything doing?

What motor have you got?

Hi,
I've got a 52 seat ibiza 1.2 that I bought of a friend who's was scrapping it, it's only done 54k! He was scrapping it because of the fault in question which he thought was the ecu but after a 2nd hand ecu that's proved not the case. I've got a cheap vcds that I bought off ebay. It brought up crankshaft position sensor which is leading me to believe it is the timing chain

Ah right, be careful with the cheap VCDS cables, they can gives false readings and even fry your ECU.

Wow didn't know that! If you could that would great thanks. Will this show up on the vcds scan if the timing is out?

Yeah they can cause a lot of dramas and discussion/links to cheap/fake VCDS cables isn't allowed on this forum now.

Yeah the scan should show exactly what's wrong so you will know how to fix it (hopefully on the cheap)
