    Hi
i have a 57plate A3 1.9 tidied se. Recently I had problems starting the car. Sometimes it would start straight away, other it would turn over a couple times or only with the accelerator fully depressed? I took to a dealer and they said it was a cambelt sensor and the globe plugs where on there way out. I had these replaced and the cambelt at the same time but the fault was still there? The garage send that now the sensor has been replaced, it is showing another fault but not sure what it is? The mechanic thinks it is the dual mass flywheel worn, but would have to take it apart to be sure and this would cost a fortune?
i feel as though I am being led down the proverbial garden path. !!!!
The car runs fine once started.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
    thanks in advance.

It seems a possibile issue with Cam - Crank synchronisation if a cam sensor appeared, now a possible crank sensor. The system relies on both working to give instant ignition on cranking. If one sensor down it takes an extended cranking period for the ecu to work out piston and valve position.
I would suggest these sensors checked out using a scope rather than relying on just the fault code alone. This would pin point any issue with these sensors, if any.
    Alan.

Thanks Alan. I have checked on the web and one of the problems associated with the crank sensor, is that at cruising speed, the car misses every so often. Mine has been doing this as well so it looks as though this is the right track to follow.
I will check the sensor today and post the results.
    Cheers
