Hi, I recently purchased a VW Passat b6, it had the airbags deployed. Bit of a challenge given i dont know much about the SRS system. Ive worked on Ford vans and replaced airbags in these in the past, but to reset them it was simple, just whipping the battery connection off for a few mins. VWs a whole different story.

I have replaced the dash and airbags. I also replaced the module. I made sure all the part numbers were the same.

Since this i now have the airbag warning light on.
I have tried resetting with a scanner but it comes straight back on.
    Fault codes are as follows:
    00598 - Airbag ignition circuit 1 - passenger side N131
    01224 - Control Module doesn't match vehicle
01228 - airbag cut off switch for passenger side (E224)

Are they 3 faults or is it one, with all 3 being brought on by the module error?

Also is it simpler for me to send the original module, that deployed the airbags, to be repaired. Or get the new one i fitted re-coded???

    Any help will be appreciated!

The air bag module must be coded to the car. You need vcds, A generic scanner can't do it.

Were your new airbag parts new or second hand? They may be coded to the other vehicle if its the latter?

Yup thought this was the case. Have sent original module away to be repaired. £30 not bad for this. Lets hope it works.

Its been delivered today. Hopefully I get a chance to replace it today. Had someone else change it first time (had a dash with airbags deployed and changed it whilst the dash was gutted.

Its behind the heater controls right? any guides on accessing it or better still any easy access tricks??
