Looking to take the car to Europe soon. I need to deflect the headlight beams for driving on the right.
Is there a switch or lever within the light fitting to do this or will I have to fit bits of tape to the lens?

Car is a 2011 A3 Sportsback with Halogen filaments and (non LED) DRL's.

    Thanks.

You'll need the stickers for halogen headlights.

Sorry to jump in and hijack the thread but I'm also trying to work out what I need to do with my headlights for continental driving in a couple of weeks.

The lights are bi-xenons (non-adaptive), car is a 2010 A3 2.0 TDI 140 Sportback S-line Black Edition. Googling gives me so many conflicting answers varying from "dealer needs to do it via VAGCOM" to "slap some stickers on".

Any guidance would be much appreciated. For what it's worth I'm aiming to do very little driving at night so really want to avoid masses of hassle/expense.

    Cheers

If you have xenons, then you can enable a "european mode" on the MMI. This will give you an option to change the headlights for driving on the other side of the road and you can then change it back when you return.

Ive turned this on on my cars and works well. If you click the VCDS User Map link in A6 Chris' reply above it will give you a list of members on here who have VCDS and will be able to enable it for you for a few beer chits.

Well that certainly proves my point about conflicting answers as that's yet another option I'd not come across before! My car doesn't have MMI anyway so that doesn't sound like an option unfortunately.

I don't know if it would be possible without an MMI as I don't know how it would be controlled. Maybe if you don't have MMI its a case of visiting your Audi dealer who will switch them to the opposite side for boing abroad and then a trip back to them when you return?

If I remember correctly it says in the manual how to go about it for the different types of lights.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yes. Get the dealership to come with you on the boat/euro tunnel and change them over at each port. Jesus....

Just get the stickers. Ive done 20-25 trips to the ring, and not once have I been stopped.

That's what I was hoping for someone to confirm to be honest.

Ideally I was hoping someone with the same lights would pop up and say "I used brand X stickers, they had a nice guide telling you where to put them on the A3 bi-xenons, they didn't melt on to the lights and no one died in a fiery death".

I use Eurolites...never had a problem in 8 years of driving to Czech Republic twice a year. About six quid off eBay.
They stick on and the guide is straightforward.

That sounds spot on...can you just confirm this is on bi-xenon lights?
