    Hi

I have a 09 highline estate with the 140 CR tdi engine on 108k. I don't drive the car very often as the wife ferries the kids around in it. Anyway got in today and there is a noticeable rattle coming from the engine/gearbox with the engine running and in neutral.

Am I right in thinking this is likely to be the dmf or the release bearing? If so Either way I take it will be best to renew clutch/dmf & release bearing at the same time, due to the miles done and cost of gearbox removal labour etc?

Any idea what kind of costs I'm looking at fitted?

    Thx in advance

Clutch and DMF, you can keep driving it till it judders, it just won't be nice to drive.

Many thanks for the Info much appreciated

When u say judders, do u mean as you get to the biting point?

Also do u know roughly what kind of money to get it changed at a garage? I've done gearbox off on older vw 5 speeds but not sure I'd be able to do a 6 speed with a couple of jacks:-/

It isn't a hard job with a couple of jacks. Parts are expensive so garage can charge £650 - 1000. Depend where you live etc.

And get everything done while you are there, silly to have to pull it all apart again in a few thousand to change the friction plate or release bearing.
