I have just done ths on mine, i was getting intermoittent esp light and glow plug light and then going off on its own and it all seemed to be related to raining etc outside.
I removed the carpet and found it a bit damp around the control module on the floor, I removed the scuttle panel and poured about a litre of water down the scuttle panel and it poured staright out of the drain and no water come into the car.
I then removed the cabin filter surround with the three nuts and found the seal in a poor condition and all split and the inner sponge part was a little wet.I used silicone sealant to replace this rubber seal and put it all back together, I think it started with the area around the cabin filter surround containing alot of debris and this allowed the water to sit there and enter the car, I then dried the floor area around the control unit and sprayed the wiring and control unit with wd40 to disperse any remaining water.
Will keep updated next time we get a good downpour and go out for a drive!!

For peace of mind, you might want to put a few sachets of silica gel (or other desiccant) in the CCM enclosure.

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.
