Parking Aid Issue with A8 3.0 TDI

My 2005 A8 3.0TDI has an intermittent issue with the parking sensors

The issue is with the front sensors. Sometimes the front sensor tone gives a permanent tone (as if you are at the limit i.e too close) even when there is nothing in front of the car which would set the sensors off. While the front tone is sounding if you then reverse the rear tone and the front tone beep together like to what I can only describe how a child would make a police siren noise i.e der-der, der-der. I have a basic vag com scanner and it shows no fault codes for the parking sensors.

As anyone got any suggestions as to what this could be?

Try and get it scanned with the full VCDS version. Could be anything down to a failing control module, sensors, sensor wiring but a scan with a compatible tool is needed

Check there isn't any flaking paint around the front sensor, I think it can cause false signals!

I am still getting intermittent problems with the front parking sensors. I now have VCDS so have run a check of which the results are pasted in below.
Oddly it gives no fault codes against Parking Assist. The sensors are clean and have no flaking paint etc. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

You may find that one or more sensor is occasionally misreading distance

After performing a measuring blocks test. It seems that the front centre right sensor is measuring a shorter distance than the centre left sensor. However this is intermittant. Sometimes it measures ok. Other times not.

If I wanted to gain access to the sensor can this be done by removing the radiator grill alone? Or does the whole front bumper cover need to be removed?
