Oil change service is due, and to keep costs as low as possible I plan to do as much my self as possible. I will get my local garage to replace the oil and stamp my book. I plan to replace the oil, air and maybe the fuel filter myself. From reading my elsawin, I’m supposed to replace the filter then extract the oil, then refill. My question is, would it be ok if I changed the filter my self the night before the service, then drove 10 miles to from car off for oil change, or would it be better to get the oil change first, then change the filter when I get the car home? I guess im anxious about dirtying a new filter from old oil, or contaminating new oil from a dirty filter!
Also, how difficult is it to replace the fuel filter?

    thanks

Why not get the garage to oil and oil filter change - you can supply your own filter if costs are that critical. Then do the air and fuel filter yourself.

Oil and filter from Audi are only about £48 if you get say 15% discount which is yours for the cost of a smile.
Then do the change yourself and know it has been done properly and that you have had a good look underneath to see if all is well.
It is a very easy job and in this weather, a pleasure.

I was more concerned about getting a stamp as proof of being done? I could easily do the filters and oil. What's your thoughts on service book traceability?

I have been using this oil to top up since owning the car for two years. I presume this is acceptable for complete lol change? I guess it's around 6 litres I need?

If that is VW 504-507, it is probably good, but looks more expensive than buying from Audi.
