Hi I've just found this forum in the search of looking for a recommended place, for replacing my soft top.
I've just done an impulse buy on 2005 Beetle 1.6 and now think maybe the roof should be replaced. It is looking a bit old, and seems to have what I would call friction wear and small tear on outer hood.

i haven't taken picture of hood yet but here is a picture of the car. Hmm scratch that won't let me post pic upload failed???

any how;suggestions of good company for replacement please, and rough cost. Should I get just outer done or whole thing ??

    many thanks

It is a huge job and not at all a DIY proposition. Without hesitation Volkswagen Hoods | Cabriolet Hoods are the people I would use, a VW hood cover is currently £2770.

Thanks for advice and link. Much appreciated
Do they also fit or is it just supply?

I was also looking at carhood.com have you heard anything about them? They say they supply most of the other places around ???
    Thanks again for your help

BAS do not do fitting, they pointed me to a chap who did a good job but later we asked him to do a Scirocco 2 headlining from scratch which was excellent and then a Beetle (proper one, not silly watercooled rubbish!!) interior roof lining and he made a mess of it. I have never dealt with carhood.com.

BAS gave me a price today for fitting. They must of started.
I was looking at 1967 beetle the other week door handles where badly pitted and paint was not to great. Wasnt sure if I would be able to source handles being one year only, that along with paint, at the price they wanted made me walk away.It also had so much gunk on it couldn't really judge if it was solid

67 door handles were badly pitted when I first started working on them in the very early 80's.
