I’m not sure if I misunderstand, but my radio remembers the last state. If it’s off it stays off when I return to the car. Do you mean you want an option to always be off on return regardless of last state?

BTW ha5smu, a great tip. I noticed the unusual kinks in the door pocket, but it didn’t register they were for bottles

    Couple of things from me:

    12. Hill Hold Assist - I like the fact that with it on I don't need to worry about putting the brake on at every traffic light etc, however it doesn't work if the seat belt isn't in. This means I roll up to the car barrier at work, undo the seat belt to get my swipe card out, and the very time I need the car to be held still, it isn't, because HHA is no longer working. Caught me out first couple of times it did it to me.

    13. I hate the fact the handbrake won't release automatically unless I've got the seatbelt in - first thing I need to do in the morning is to reverse out of my drive, as I'm reversing I don't want the seat belt on, but the car won't auto release the brake until I do. Need to remember to manually release it, but you get so used to it auto-releasing, having to remember to manually release it in this instance is really frustrating.

    13. Don't understand why when I've turned off the engine, gotten out of the car etc, if you've forgotten to put the handbrake on, it doesn't come on automatically. It is an electronic handbrake after all. It seems bonkers that it is technically possible to walk away from the car without the handbrake being on. Surely applying the brake when the car is parked, engine off etc should be the default action, with an override for the odd occasion when you may want to leave the brake off when the car isn't started, like towing etc I'm sure somebody, especially someone getting used to a button handbrake rather than a traditional one, will forget to engage it, and the potential consequences are so horrendous, you'd think the health and safety brigade had ensured this wasn't possible :-)

Both my hire C7s did this, what year is yours? Maybe check the coding in the Parking Brake control module if you have access to VCDS.

It is a 13 plate - I even tested it the other day to make sure, and yup, I managed to get out of the car and walk away without the brake being on. Got so paranoid I now always look for the red light on the dash before I walk away from the car. It's going in next week to fix a problem with the seat, I'll ask them what the standard behaviour should be.

You can change the parking brake behaviour with VCDS, check out the A7 VCDS tricks page and it's on there.

    8. My standard cruise allows 1mph increments or hold for 5mph steps… just as ha5smu says.

    9. Not getting any noticeable noise from the mirrors… could it be the issue with your window seals?
    7. For starters - I like to charge my phone fully when having a longer trip. Especially when it's all the time connected via bluetooth and it drains battery pretty fast. Besides I also like to play my Itunes library through the phone/cable.
    8. Standard allows that - but ACC does not.
    9. It's subjective probably, my window seals were checked by so many Audi services that and all claimed that there is nothing wrong. I also had it checked by the independent service. I just can hear the mirros 'breaking through the air flow' from around 50 mph and higher. When there is a cross-wind it gets even more extreme at lower speeds. I tested another A6 from the dealer and I did not find any major difference with the road noise/window seals from what I could tell after short trip around the city.

    7. Why not install a cradle if you mostly use your phone like this? The phone needs to be mounted/fixed to use it while driving in the UK and even if it’s allowed in Poland it would be much safer for you Is there no way to read txt through the MMI with the iPhone? I personally hate clutter so I choose to hide the phone away, but maybe you could route the AMI cable to the front compartment in the centre console? Where did your phone sit in your previous car?

    8. I think the point of small increments in standard CC is to allow micro adjustments to suit surrounding vehicles which ACC does for you. Can’t you drive at the speed you want, enable ACC and let it make the little adjustments for you? Did you have adaptive cruise control in your previous car?

    9. I understand that once you’re aware of something it can be hard to forget about it, but compared to my own recent Ford(s) and previous BMW and Vauxhalls I think the A6 is very quiet. I think it’s very well-engineered when you consider it has relatively large tyres and Quattro etc. A friends Golf is noticeably louder at all speeds for example.

I’m not sure of your circumstances, but to be brutally honest, I would be seriously considering going back to the model you had before.

If you have the HDD based navigation and the enhanced phone connectivity plus your phone supports rSAP then you can look at text messages via MMI. Still does not get away from the fact that reading a text message whilst driving is dangerous and could cause an accident. Like you the last thing I want is clutter around the interior of the car so the AMI cable and device being out of the way is ideal.

Article that might discourage those who think it is ok to text whilst driving

Texting is more dangerous than drugs, alcohol while driving: Study : FUTURE TECH : Tech Times

and in the eye of the law you are just as guilty if you are simply reading a message as you are texting the Complete Works of Shakespeare.
