    Hi,
After almost a year of driving this car I still can't get used to some of its features, mainly when it comes to simple ergonomics. I had VW cars before and in general everything seemed to be a bit better thought through. Here are a couple examples - I would be grateful if you could prove me wrong on at least some of them:

    1. MMI - I simply hate having to use the touchpad to input letters into my navigation. My handwriting seems to be too bad for the car to recognize it and often I end up trying 5 times inputing one letter! I find that much more dangerous and distracting than using a touchscreen.
    2. Ability to swap songs from the steering wheel (without entering the media menu). I really miss just simple arrows left/right to skip a track or go to the previous one.
    3. I went for dual-zone climate control and I miss a 'sync' button which would set the same temperature for me and the passenger side. I often end up turning the knobs back and forth, trying to make them more or less equal. It's even more difficult, since there is no display with the set temperature.
    4. Cup holders - would be so much nicer to have them in front of the gearbox lever or at least positioned differently. I often have 0,5l bottles there and it makes it almost impossible to reach for the gearbox stick.
    5. Start and Stop. Of course i can switch it off every time I start driving, but sometimes it leads to dangerous situations. For example I stop before crossing, notice a slow car driving and want to join in as fast as possible, so that I don't create any danger - but my engine is off and it adds another 1-2 seconds to the whole procedure.
    6. I have the most advanced dynamic light assist with xenons - but it's still inferior to VW system in Golf. Main thing is that when another car is approaching from the opposite direction or we are closing to a car in front of us - the car would just switch to low beam. In VW/BMW systems - long beam persists - only parts of the lenses that might distract the other driver are 'covered'.
    7. Connecting your phone: Why the hell this AMI cable has to be in the armwrest? In order to keep my phone plugged I have to hide it in the armwrest. That means that if I get a message and want to check it (at least who is it from) I have to perform very dangerous procedure of opening the armwrest and unplugging the phone. Why not somewhere in the front console, like in most cars?
    8. In My old car I could set the cruise control up to 1 mph. Not in Audi. Here you can only increase by 10s - so if I want to drive - 'let's say 107 mph - I have to set it to 110 and 'stop' manually when I think it reaches 107. (I have the adaptive cruise control).
    9. Excessive wind noise from the side mirros - the car would be so nicely quiet if not the loud noise coming from both mirrors. Already at quite low speeds I notice the increasing wind roar from that area - I'm sure its some design flaw.

That's pretty much it for now Thanks in advance for your opinions and maybe suggestions how to get around some of the above 'problems'.

I agree with you about the cup holders, they should be forward than where they are now - at least they put two, my previous C6 had one only for mugs/bottles - and for the MMI in theory you should not be doing your inputs while driving, but we all know reality is different...So for that I am using the SDS a lot.

And I do not hear any sound from the side mirrors...Cruising it 65 mph on the M25, nothing at all.

    1. You don't have to use the MMI touch for input, you can use the click wheel which is quicker and easier.
    2. You can customise the asterix button on the steering wheel via the MMI to skip the next track.
    4. The storage compartments in the front doors are designed towards the front for holding drinks bottles. They even have a little grip to stop the bottle from sliding.
    7. Don't think it really matters where the MMI cable is. You say it is dangerous to reach when driving. It is dangerous to get your phone when driving, wherever it is. Stop driving to check your messages and their will be no problem.
    8. Not sure how your cruise control is setup, but if you quickly nudge the stick up or down it will change in 1mph increments and if you hold it, it should change in 5mph increments.

    1. MMI - As ha5smu says use the MMI input instead and also you should not be entering a destination when driving. If you need to then you can use the voice input option
    2. Use the left and right arrows brow the volume control on the centre console
    4. Cup holders - They are cup holders not bottle holders!
    5. I take you have an auto as in a manual all you need to do is not put the car in neutral and leave the clutch depressed to stop the stop start activating.
    6. I don't think so. Main beam adjustment as you describe is only possible with LED or laser headlight systems. I think it must jet be that the cut off is sharper not he Audi than you are used to. Alternatively the lights need adjusting
    7. AMI is for music not for phone. On the A4 and C6 A6 the AMI port is in the glovebox so even less accessible. As already said you should not be checking messages while driving. Do that in the UK and you run the risk of a large fine and points on your licence
    8. Surely the point of ACC is to set your target speed and then let the car adjust to that speed based on the traffic ahead. As speed limits are usually in round numbers of 10 can see Audi's logic in this. Think I have read somewhere that you can adjust this via VCDS
    9. We already know about your super sensitive hearing. Do not find it a problem at all in my car. Only hear any wind noise when the radio is off and even then it is not excessive. Pushing a blunt object through air at 70mph is going to make some noise, down to physics not Audi.

    3. To sync the dual zone climate press and hold the drivers side temperature adjustment knob for about 2 seconds and your temperatures will sync

You can spec the digital system when new though.

Mitchys tip works in the C6 too with digital.

My CC (non ACC) does 1mph changes. Useful for setting it to 78mph as that is the threshold for the Talivans on motorways.

The think that annoys me most is the windscreen was filler. Trying to get in there with a gallon container and keep the filler cap open is a huge PITA.

You’re kidding Chris? As a no cost option probably would have gone for that depending on how it looks. I miss the mono option from my Mondeo which saved adjusting twice or holding any buttons down… I’m so lazy

Anyway, on to your questions tadziak:

    1. I use the dial while stationary or voice control on the go… as others have mentioned. Might be better if I was left handed, but I probably still wouldn’t use it.

    2. Already covered by others. I have the user button set to track advance and I find the back/forward buttons bellow the volume fall to hand really well if I need to go back or hold in to fast forward etc.

    3. I do agree with this one. Is it because I’m OCD and need the temps to be identical?

    4. I have S-Tronic and only use the cup holder(s) for a tub of gum so I can’t really comment.

    5. I think your stop start is faulty if it’s taking 2 seconds or maybe there is a difference with auto/manual? Mine kicks back in as I’m releasing the brake and is ready to go seamlessly. I suppose I would have to time it, but it feels like less than a second. I must admit I normally only use the first stage of the brake pedal when approaching a junction or roundabout though… just enough for hold assist to kick in. I use the stop start at the lights.

    6. Don’t have dynamic light assist so can’t comment.

    7. Not sure why you need to hook up the phone this way unless it’s for media?

    8. My standard cruise allows 1mph increments or hold for 5mph steps… just as ha5smu says.

    9. Not getting any noticeable noise from the mirrors… could it be the issue with your window seals?
