Hi guys, the other half has a 56 plate beetle which has recently starting giving us some headlight problems.

The O/S low beam bulb went out a month or so ago and we replaced the bulb. The same bulb went out again yesterday, (when I looked over it I couldn't see any signs of damage, the filament still looked solid etc but I haven't confirmed this). We replaced it today and tested it working, the bulb then went out again this evening.

The fuses look fine and are 15 amp (I assume these are the standard ones)

Any thoughts or suggestions as to what I can try next?

Is the headlamp locked in correctly? When it isn't working, try and push the headlamp in and see if the lamp lights. Sometimes if the lamp isn't fully in, the connector on the lamp doesn't mate up with the one on the body.

    Hi Flash2,

Everything seemed to be located ok, all other lights work in the unit. I'll check it all over this evening with a multi-meter, thanks.

It's always the simple things! Tested all the bulbs, wiring etc no obvious faults. Knocked the unit by mistake and it worked! Have reseated it and seems to be alright

If I got a pound every time I've seen that, I'd be two pounds better off
    Glad you got it sorted.
