    Hello,

We've just bought a 2004 Audi A3 1.6 FSI SE and unfortunately it has a very noticeable 'judder' when trying to set off in 1st and reverse. It's smooth as anything going into all other gears.

It's like you need to give it more revvs as it's like it's going to stall :S

I've been trying to search for similar problems and I've found a few with exactly the same as mine, but with no definitive solution...

    Flywheel?
    Clutch?
Carry on driving until clutch gives??

I've also found that they were recalled by Audi for a flywheel problem:
    http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/reca...=Blank&tx=VOSA

Now if it was recalled, and if it applies to my car, and it's not already been rectifed, does that mean that I can take it to an Audi dealer to sort for free, even though the recall was issued in 2006? (I'm not saying this will fix my problem, but I'd like to start off with the cheapest/free-ist options first!)

    Thanks in advance!

    Joe

    Welcome.

Ring Audi Customer Services on 0800 699 888 and see if there are any outstanding recalls for your car, they can tell from the reg.

I have a feeling since you aren't use to the clutch yet it's just adjusting from your previous car, my A3 was like this until I drove it a few times now it never judders. What miles are on the car currently?

It's done 75k miles - I was thinking that it judders as if it's going to stall, and hence we rev it more, but perhaps we don't need to? It seems to have a high bite point too if that's any relevance?

    Hi Tango
I'm having exactly the same issues on my A3 2.0 FSI which i bought from a non Audi dealer 1 month ago. - High bite point, pedal sticking 1/4 way down, juddering when I pull off in 1st. Ot's a 53 plate and has done 105K miles.
Did you get your problem solved ?

    Thanks

    Sorry for the late reply....

No I didn't resolve the issue, it seemed it would cost a lot of money to fix something that is tolerable!

    But...

...I did get this message from someone who had the same problem on their Audi:

"The problem was that some of the springs had snapped on the clutch pressure plate, causing the judder problem. Replacing the clutch solved it totally."

    Hope this helps!
