Crasher, know what you mean about sealed unit. When I replaced the driver module I took old one apart to try and locate intermittent fault thinking I may be able to clean or resolder something but most of the internals are sealed or not easy repair-also the spring and plastic cog wheels then decide they no longer want to live in the unit!!!
Any idea where the J519 unit is -may just be worth a check plug is tight.Otherwise as rear door is intermittent but seems oddly to work when opposite rear door doesnt and vice versa may take panel off and clean contacts.

The J519 is under the drivers side of the dash above your right foot/lower leg.

After having replaced the central locking module in both front doors(08 new shape with only 50k and FSH) at approx. £120 each and fitting myself the rear OS is now refusing to open on the fob although if opened on handle from inside will happily lock up again. Before I go and order another module from Seat does anybody know if the part is interchangeable between older pre new shape 08/09 and the newer model-some pre new shape modules on ebay for £35 look like the module I have but dont want to upset ECU etc if I fitted one. The part no.s seem to be the same bar a "B" for the older model and a "C" for my model??
I did write to Seat with invoices etc as I am amazed, and really just wanted to know what the issue was with these locks, at the failure of three locks and intermittent on fourth within 50K and 6 yrs but they were extremely unhelpful just quoting as car was now out of warranty and they are not aware of any issues with these modules there was nothing they could do!My local Bury St Edmunds VW dealer has been more helpful in the past with issues with our Passat than Seat have been -so much for auto emocion!
