Google Traffic information overlay

Hi all, do you get the Google traffic "jam" in red, and "open roads" n Google Earth ?


My Google maps have red and green roads all the time, seems more like road definitions, i.e. highway in red, and others in yellow


This is what I want, and do not have:

I see your car is a 2011 model so the first question is "did you buy the car new"?

If not then the online services can't be transferred easily (or at all if the first owner didn't register for the service in the first 6 months).

So do you have the ONLINE box in the bottom left hand corner as shown in the picture above? If no then this option may simply be unavailable to you

This is what the Audi MMI website says

The reception of online traffic data must be enabled under INFO >> Settings. This option can be set as follows:

Default setting “off”; alternatively, via TEL >> Settings >> Connections >> Data Connections >> Traffic Data

In addition to the display of the traffic flow data, another map view is available, namely “Traffic”, which can be set in the same way as the Google Earth view and standard view:
NAV >> Settings >> Map View

To improve the clarity of the display, this map view contains fewer colours than the standard map. The Audi online traffic information icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen is only visible in the same way as the TMC/TMCpro icon if the dynamic congestion avoidance function is enabled:
NAV >> Criteria >> Dyn. Congestion Avoidance

The current traffic flow is indicated by coloured lines:

green: free flowing traffic
orange: slow-moving traffic
red: traffic jam
Traffic obstructions such as roadworks, traffic jams, road closures, etc. are displayed by shadings in all the map views, whereas traffic flow information is only displayed in the traffic map.

Is it possible to activate “Audi online traffic information” later, provided that the vehicle is enabled for Audi connect?
Unfortunately, at present, subsequent activation of the Audi connect service “Online traffic information” is not possible.

oops, seems I was wrong, there is no "online" icon down in the left corner.
i do however have access to myaudi.com, and all other features seems to work.
Stange, asking Audi here is useless, all they say is that whatever features I miss probably wasent
installed originally, and therefoe I should not have it. :-(.
So my question is basically can it be enabled?, will the HW support it?

If the previous owner didn't register it then there is no way to fix this.

I tried my dealer and Audi and just got blank looks last time round but feel free to have a go yourself and report back

Nice!

but note that you do have all the other functions on the list already

The only thing that would give you would be google traffic instead of TMC

I do not intend to buy this thing, wat it was thinking was to try the green meny thingy, and then might get to re-license online services?
that part seems to be an Audi thing?

That looks interesting and fairly straight forward. Will try it on the wife's A5 and post back on if it's any good
