Well that escalated quickly

Not at the moment.

I've had a failed surgery for it six weeks ago. Trying to see if it can be managed by drugs for now.

I had a good look at the telemetry on the screen today.

Three beats of VT (Ventricula Tachycardia)

The ICD prepares to pace me out of it...

Third beat landed in the re-polarisation phase (or something like that, I forget the terminology) and sent me into VF (Ventricula fibrillation) = technically dead

I'm unconscious on the floor by now

ICD says "oh ****" to itself, forgets about the pacing and charges its capacitor for a shock.

9.3 seconds pass with me technically dead

ICD shocks me back to normal sinus rhythm

I wake up!

All that over a total of about 15 seconds.

I'm obviously a bit edgy at the moment!

Oh well, looking on the bright side, that's 9.3 seconds where you won't be nagged for not doing the washing up/putting out the bins/sorting that light bulb out (delete as appropriate)

It has happened again.

Coming up to three years since the last major event hoping the worse was behind me, last Tuesday (a week ago today) I suffered two cardiac arrests.

As before I literally dropped dead but my ICD shocked me back to life.

Feeling quite fragile at the moment. Another six month, could be two years this time medical driving ban.

I got home from hospital last Friday believe it or not.

Trying to get on with life, back to work, all be it from home, behind a laptop, on Monday.
