    Hi,

Thanks Martin for your detail manual. It was very helpful for me I solve my problem only by changing switches. But today get new error ""move steering wheel" . I check the steering lock module and I see that can't put up the part A because part B was blocking part A.

    What is part B function?
I put part B out and it seems ok.

    Thanks for answare.lock4.jpg

Part 'b' is the lock peg. Without part 'b' you do not have a lock.

    Thanks Martin,

I still not understand this fully.

When part B is in lock position (on the left) (released spring), what make part B unlock it again?I don't see that motor can unlock part b (to right position).

    Thanks for replay

Motor locks and unlocks by moving peg. Micro switches control position.

Some people are "repairing" the steering lock by disabling it. This is now an MOT fail if the tester spots that the lock isn't working, so it is worth checking that a repaired lock still works.

Well good evening from Dallas TX in the U.S. I just joined this site as it seems that you guys actually seem to fix your cars and not just take them to the ***********. I just sent my money to have full access to Martin's website as at the rate my wife's 2007 Passat Wagon 2.0t is breaking stuff I am going to need it. We have not had it a year yet and the downpipe separated from the flange where it bolts to the turbo thus running an open and very loud exhaust (took it off and had it welded up), while doing that I found the inner boot for the right side (passenger side over here) inner cv boot was torn so replaced axle, fixed one oil leak at oil filter housing, I replaced the timing belt, idler, belts and water pump three months ago, and now the Sanden AC compressor has eaten itself (bought a new replacement to put in with all associated parts), front rotors are warped (have them too), the m80 purge valve is bad (have that), front lower arm bushings are worn (have those too), the drivers side floorboard has water under it (need to figure that out, have already blown sunroof drain hoses out) and just today the steering wheel lock light and message came on. This car only has 98,000 miles. I have never had a vehicle with issues like this.

However, the question I have is that if I buy a replacement steering column lock 3C0905861J and have a vag com 12.12.0 can I just reprogram the keys to work or does it have to be done by Volkswagen? I swear having this car is like having a second job. I had to buy the Vag com just to keep up with codes that pop up. Volkswagen had a recall on this same issue in the US, but for whatever reason the recall was time limited and time is now up. If I cannot re program the keys to the steering column lock or the steering lock to the car then I am just going to clean out the switches and hope for the best. My wife is really starting to dislike the car and after all of the problems it has had I cannot say that I blame her. Thanks for the help.
