Well, I have finally ordered my cable from Ross-Tech and written to the nearest flag on Chris' map, so expect loads of questions from me shortly!

With very many thanks to TheMatador, who I met through the VCDS Map, and Gendan, who delivered next day, as promised, I can announce that I have lost my VCDS virginity. I no longer have the nanny finger wagging if I choose not to put my seatbelt on.

I will now engross myself in the software and try to become knowledgeable enough to become a resource!

My status is that it will stay on for about 2 seconds after a complete stop and then I have to pull the ACC stalk about once every 10 seconds to keep re-enabling it. There is no option for permanent enabling so I will have to start experimenting. The only problem is telling the person, that you just rear ended, that it was only a test and that you really weren't driving.

A couple of things about the Brake in P thing.

Firstly, there seem to be two, independent, flags. One is the "Shift P to EPB" documented here, the other has a more narrative title, like "Park Brake when in P" or something (sorry, I don't have the car in front of me to get the exact words.) Do we know the difference?

Secondly, it doesn't put the brake on when the car is in Park. Rather, the effect is to put the EPB on when I shut down and open the door.

    Any ideas?

Does it make any difference whether you had the Auto-hill-hold thing turned on or not? (I forget the exact name, it's the button below the parking brake which has a red light).
