Hi, not long joined the site I stumbled across it while researching the dreaded EPB fault on my B6 passat and I would just like to say what a great place it is!!!!

Seems my Passat is one of many that has a rear caliper motor seized, I've found a local independent VW garage who have vag-com who are willing to replace the rear pads and the seized motor for £70 labour which is very reasonable I think but the stumbling block is the cost of the new caliper motor!!!!!

My main VW dealer has quoted me £270 + vat and a place called euro parts has quoted me £170 + vat. This seems a bit excessive to me and I was wondering if it would be viable to fit a used motor?? Also is there anywhere I could pick up a new caliper motor cheaper?? I'm sure I seen on here somewhere that somebody sourced them for around £50 although I could be mistaken.

Don't want to come across as a tight £&@& but this is money I just don't have at the moment!!

    Thanks for any help.

I doubt you will find one much cheaper than euro car parts. A secondhand one may be as bad as your one. Why not take it off and give the gear cluster a clean & grease. It is usually the gear drive that sticks.
