I'm seriously looking ( as mentioned in another thread ) about replacing / upgrading the standard horn on my A6 (4F) BRE car as it sounds so pitiful.

Can anyone help with a diagram showing the horn location please? I'm pretty sure that its in the front bumper area possibly under the headlights there or thereabouts.....also 2 off?
    High tone & low tone.

Any help appreciated as I've done a search and nothings came up.....possibly a useful addition for future use as well I would have thought.

    Thanks in advance

Hi Peter, thanks for the quick response, much appreciated!
A real bummer about having to remove the front bumper though??

I know its a long shot, but do you have any diagram that shows the location, and if so could you provide?
Either way, thanks so much again for your help

    These would be amazing....lol
Around £300 + fitting so probably £500 all in...

This is probably what I'll go for though....they are similar size to stock, very small ( around 4" or so ) and I'd probably fit two.
Maybe another one for the alarm if possible as the stock alarm is barely audible...

There are 2 horns behind the bumper. A low tone horn and a high tone horn.

VCDS scan will tell you if either of these is faulty.

My wife commented the horn on my A6 was a little weedy compared to her MK5 golf.

Inside the car, that certainly seemed to be the case. But standing outside and having her press the horn told me otherwise. I think the sound insulation in these cars is so good it makes the horn sound weedy whe you are inside.

Apologies for resurrecting this ancient post - but I've got the exact same issue.

My horn has been fine for years. Then it went intermittently wimpish. Then returned to normal for a few weeks, and now is wimpish again. I guess one of the twin horns has failed, but VCDS is certainly not raising any concerns or errors on a scan!

Which side of the car is it on, and does the bumper really need to be removed to get at it?
