Ok I have two problems firstly the rear wiper on my 2000 avant doesn't work and secondly when you use the rear screen wash the fluid just comes out of the headliner at the back!

The first problem is just a case of a replacement but....

Anyone had the washer hose leak like this? I know if it's actually in the roof I am screwed but I can see the hose is double lined up till the roof join where it goes to a single hose and this is where the fluid is coming out from, I've tried blowing back from the wiper motor end and the leak seems to be very close but as it's double lined to this point it could be misleading, on the other hand if If anyone has had a split from this area I don't mind rising cutting the hose back.

    Hi,

I've not had the water coming out of the headliner but I have had it coming out of the following which i believe may be well documented.

    1. The pipe comes off the wiper connection - result is a wet tailgate carpet (the bit on the actual tailgate. Simple enough to push back on my access is not great unless you strip the tailgate trim - something I have never worked out how to do but I think Peter D may have the plans for these models if you contact him.

    2. It comes apart in the access panel in the boot at the left hand side. There is a joining pipe and it just seems to work loose over time and with pressure. Sometimes it just leaks and you can usually tell this because pressure will be down at the rear wiper jet.

    3. and this is the worst by far. I have only had this once thank goodness. The pipe has a join near the passengers door under the kick trim or thereabouts. My came apart without me knowing until I noticed a wet rear footwell. I had no idea why, but I then worked out that the water was the same bright green colour as my halfords screen wash! Turns out it was gravity draining the bottle as soon as it was full up. I was lucky I didn't flood the convenience module in the front as the front carpets and sound insulation did get wet too. Had to strip the entire lot out and dry it out in the garage!

    Cheers
    Duncan

Thanks I've got the tailgate trim off and it's definitely not the connection but is coming out of the joint at the top of the tailgate, my guess is that the repeated action of opening and closing the tailgate for ten years has caused it to split
