Not sure what you mean by solenoid exactly?
My fuel filler cap is as simple as pushing one end of it inwards and it then essentially springs open!
BUT.....It doesn't want to seem to play ball
Yep - there is a metal peg which engages into a hole on the back of the filler flap when the car is locked (to prevent anyone from trying to syphon fuel out). Sounds like this is not disengaging when you unlock the car. As stated above, there should be a green cord behind the boot trim on the right hand side to manually disengage the peg.
I'd get your dealer to take a look when you get chance - sounds like either the solenoid actuating the peg has failed/seized or become disconnected. Given the proximity of it to the battery in the boot, something may have been disturbed when they were checking out your battery drain problem?
Good luck!!
