There's a reason that the engine control unit couldn't re-generate the DPF, possibly the pressure sensor or a ex temp sensor is faulty.
Also, there is a possible engine software up-date available, did the dealer check the TPI system?
I've had DPF's that have been overloaded, but after the pressure sensor has been replaced & adapted the DPF load reading has changed, allowing the DPF to be regenerated!
I've also changed DPF's under warranty, can't understand why the dealer isn't prepared to do that!

Sorry to hear of your problems.

Did you buy it from a Dealership? if so do they have any sort of 30 days return policy that means you can reject it?

I have the same engine in my Golf and its booked in for its 3rd visit for problems related to the DPF and Emissions. I've had all these warning lights come on during the last few months and mine also went into limp mode because it hadn't regenerated - when i left it with the dealership they managed to regenerate it and send me on my way telling me it was all sorted. A few weeks on and my emissions warning light has come back on.

I was told that it would not have been covered under warranty if it was to be replaced - bit of a joke really in the way its designed.

As already said, you definately need to establish what caused the problem - because if its something that IS covered under warranty then the DPF replacement becomes their problem
