Hi, I am wondering if anybody can help me, I recently had new brake pads fitted at kwick fit, a couple of weeks later I got a really bad metal sounding rattle from both front wheels.

When I took them back to Kwik Fit they said it was probably because they where not genuine audi items that they fitted, so they ordered the genuine audi pads and refit them free of charge, however they still rattle terribly on bumpy services. Sound like something is about to go very wrong.

The pads are secure and we have no rattle when brakes are applied, the discs are in fine condition and the car brakes very true.

The guys at Kwik fit showed me, they are secure its just like they are the wrong size and need some sort of spacer or spring ???

They are baffled and when they rang our local Audi dealer they said I would have said to bring it to them, however im skint.

Its a 2005 audi 2.7 tdi avant sline if this makes any difference!!

    Any advice would be appreciated.

What brakes do you have FN3 with a wire anti rattle spring or FNRG60 with a flat section machined spring.
Did they fit the right pad each side. The pads are marked with an arrow to show the direction of rotation of the front wheel. Ask Them. Regards Peter

Can you describe the noise better and do you know if they removed the adhesive backing from the outer pads. Regards Peter

Hi I'm affraid I am not technical, but they did seem knowledgable at kwik fit and took the wheels off and showed me thatbthe callipes where robust and the pads sat in flush.

I will ask them the question regarding the type of pad, as above and your comments maybe the incorrect pad was fitted as it's as though it needs an anti rattle spring pad

You still have not described the noise. You need to establish the type and make of the caliper is it an FN3 ATE. If you rotate the alloy you can see the caliper and the spring. Regards Peter
