    Hi all
    Question to you knowledgable folk!

I have a '96 1.6 Polo and the coolant has emptied twice in the last 10 days over a distance of approx 350-400 miles.
I noticed it when the temp gauge light was flashing, although the temp was staying in the middle.
Upon checking after the second time i found a couple of drops under the water pump.
I filled the tank and ran the engine, it took a while then a few drops came out. Have tightened the screws and appears to have slowed it greatly.
Would this point to a split gasket in the pump? if so, is that easy to replace or is it best to fit a new pump? either way, how easy is it for a novice?

    Many thanks in anticipation...
    with more queries to come

    Problem solved!! (hopefully)

I have put down the extra leaking to an overflow, the level has stayed the same now after a bottle of K weld.
    200 miles later still ok
