My EGR valve holes have been weeping a good bit more oil than usual the past while.
The intake pipes are coated in oil as usual, and it does weep slightly at the lowest pipe below the inter cooler.

I was thinking that the best solution would be to drill a drain hole into the bottom of the inter cooler, block it with a bolt and then every so often it would be pretty easy to drain the inter cooler.

Is this a good idea, what would the correct procedure be for this and would it be easy enough?

I have done this (see previous posts), the metal is very thin so I used a hex grease nipple as they have a very fine thread, use a face seal on the nipple to seal it against the underside of the intercooler at the lowest point. I cut an access hole through the lower cover but as I only drain at a service this cover is removed then, so no real need. If your EGR is leaking oil the stem seal is shot and you are loosing boost, it needs replacing

Can you replace the seal, or is it a buy the whole EGR valve?

Buy the EGR, mine blew oil for a while then started playing tunes, cost about £120 from VAG dealer (better than the £180 for the Vectra EGR though!!)

Surely a seal in the EGR could be replaced somehow instead of buying the hole unit.
