    VAG-COM only gave you a P code!?

16618 (P0234) Charge air pressure sensor –G31- control limit exceeded

The engine code would help but the EGR valve has northing to do with turbo boost control.

    thanks for the reply.

    it says turbo boost exceeded
as what happens every couple of weeks on the motorway about 70 miles an hour once i start to go uphill it looses power.

Yes but what is the engine code? The engine type code, so we know if it is a 1.9 8v or 2.0 16v...

Turbo vanes coked up. Remove and clean turbo. It won't be the vacuum system.

If it helps until Crash gets back, if you take off the engine cover, it will look like a goldy/silver top hat with a black vacum unit and wire pipe coming from it, if it'd been a simple case of the 1.9 turned around it would be at the back on the passenger side, but the oil filer would be right alongside it, but on the 2.0 it's over where the 1.9 egr valve is located, hth.

If the unit has changed shape since, which they do from time to time I do apologize for the mistake.
