A6 telephone problem ?

hi, just bought an a6 2.7 avant 56 plate and have a problem with the mmi. It all works fine for 20 seconds then goes off for 2 seconds then back on again and so on. The telephone control unit i have now taken out and this seems to have solved the problem,but looking at the service history it shows that audi had a recall on the telephone unit and repaired it after 18 months, but they are not willing to repair it again. I was wondering has anybody out there had the same problems ? Does anybody know of anyone who can repair it ? Audi want nearly £450 to do the job ? Or has anyone out there got one for sale ? Did you manage to get this sorted? I'd be interested to hear since I have an A8 and the telephone system has packed up - all it says is "telephone not installed" - but according to the original spec on the vehicle it was.
