As all these items run from their own control modual which are signaled over the canbus system from the central convieniance controller perhaps the canbus connector is loose or a wire has been broken (in the door flex connecter) of the canbus wiring

There is one controller in the door that does all those function. they are renowned to go faulty. Also the connection in the door pillar to the door can cause a few issues...check it not wet.

You need someone with VCDS (Vag-com) to help you with this.

    What repairs were carried out?

Does the fuel flap release switch work? (fuel flap release should work without the ignition being on, the other things wont)
Do the drivers door window switches light up when you switch the lights on?

    Regards.

Hi and regards to onzarob as I am not trying to contradict him as there may well be different build levels/upgrades ect, but here is a scan of a 2008/2009 mkv match which shows seperate control moduals for the doors, and Elsawin does the same.
My Passat had one controller with just motors in the doors for the locks and windows, but the golf appears to be different.

WOW...did you get vagcom for xmas or what?

Actually, onzarob is correct. It's the controller in the drivers door that controls all the things that Moeg said aren't working. Even the left rear door electric window (which has it's own control unit) wont work if there is a fault with the controller on the front door. The two control units are linked via a data bus (LIN bus in this case).

    Hi Jim,
Sorry my choice of words, that is what I was trying to say in my 1st post above onzarob's post, the central controller being the drivers door modual and the canbus wire going through the door "A" piller grommet being broken or having lost its connection somehow as it carries the message to act.
As it is the complete left side, it points to a connection, as for two moduals to fail at once does not tally.

Yes, I agree. The A pillar connector would defo be worth checking.

It's just a bit worrying that a VW dealer can't find anything wrong with the car. I'd like to think the dealer would check for a CAN signal at the door control unit. I think that would be the second thing on my list if it came to me for diagnosis.

    Jim.

I see you've worked out allot the, you are both right there is controller in both doors, but the drivers door is the master and the passenger the slave.

As for the door connectors, they are rubbish and prone to letting in damp. They have rubber boot on the which is released by sliding a blade between the body and the boot. then the connector had a latch that is pulled back. chek the see if the connection are poor etc.

I replace a hole loom in my door to fix one issue. to access the door controller you only need remove the inner panel, to remove the loom the outside door skin has to be removed!!!
