    Hi

Our 2007 3.2 litre Passat has just had a warning light go on. It is a yellow flashing bulb management light and apparently means the adaptive front light system has failed.

The side lights still come on when turning left and right slowly. The main lights work both dim and high beam. The lights just don't move around when you turn on the lights.

    A few questions :

Do you need to have this working.
Can you turn off the error message
What is the likely failure point
    Is it expensive to fix

    Thanks

    Andrew

You do need to have it working for an MOT.

You can cancel the errors, however if it is a genuine error it will return

Probably the motors or gear system within the headlight

Almost definitely. Best case, take the light out, clean the gears, look for an issue and hope you can sort it. Medium option, buy a used unit and put your bulbs blasts and other bits into it. Worst case, dig deep, take out a second mortgage and cry.

Because you have the adaptive lights so can’t set them manually. Additionally you can’t have any warning lights showing for an MOT.
