  1. Thumbs down Teeside Audi

I would like to highlight a very real problem with this dealer. I have been very impressed with the MOT service provided by Audi for cars over 5 yeary old. My A6 is 10 years old and have taken advantage of this service since it's conception. My MOT in 2009 highlighted that my front discs and pads required replacing and failed the MOT, I declined Audi offer to fix. I thought this was odd as I changed out the disce and pads 4 months previously so had another MOT done at an independant garage and sure enough my car failed on CV joint failure not a brake problems, in fact, Teeside Audi failed to spot this potentially fatal problem. I phoned the dealership and complained to the service manager who assured me he would deal with this.
My MOT in Febuary 2010 at Teeside Audi (I thought I would get better service, somehow) my car failed it's MOT on split CV gaiters which I had changed out during last years CV joint failure as both looked ready to split. I again declined Audi offer to fix and had another MOT done and supprise, supprise the car passed the MOT.
I thought it was time to highlight this to Audi UK as this is a rip off situation, I know the MOT is free but in the current climate my feeling is Audi are on a claw back to recoup some money. The Service manager at Teeside Audi Derek Totty informed me that the CV joint is not checked during a MOT and wanted me to take my car over to check out the gaiters. I think not!!
The outcome, is not much really Audi customer service are useless and the dealer is not interested that, maybe someone could die due to poor MOT service and incompetance.
Sorry long rant for my first post but need to vent some frustration

That doesn't inspire me with confidence
My MOT's due in June and I had planned on using the free MOT so that any problems can be fixed before the warranty runs out.
The problem is Teesside Audi is my nearest dealer. My only experience with them so far hasn't been favourable. They took about 3 hours to replace the radio (blamed the paperwork ) and then when the exhaust sensor failed they said they wouldn't have a loan car for 3 weeks.

Sorry been there done that. I took my car in due to the fuel gauge erratic display, I was informed that the fuel sender was to blame. This was duly changed out and ran for a couple of days. I ran out of fuel on the Tees flyover in rush hour, the fuel gauge was reading 1/4 full. I was not happy, I was offered a discount on a replacement cluster. It was wrongly diagnosed and not offered any compensation for cost on a part not required.

    Update of this issue.

Had a meeting with Seamus Watson the head of business at Teesside Audi. He listened to my views, I let him inspect all the documentation relating to the issue with a outcome of nothing really. He took my car to inspect the CV gaiters, he confirmed these where not split as stated on the MOT failure cert. All he could tell me was the MOT technician saw leaking grease from both gaiters and as part of the MOT criteria the technician is not allowed to wipe, clean, prod, remove or touch anything as part of a MOT, the technician just thought the gaiters were split. What is disturbing both gaiters needed new clips during the subsequent MOT. The difference between split gaiters and repositioning of gaiters is around £200, and thats dependant on the splines separating which could add another £250 onto the bill.
I pressed him for a responce on the missed CV joint failure and other issues, but unable to comment on an issue over a year old. I left the dealer unsure and unconvinced enough to trust this dealer with my car again.

I bought my car from Teesside last April and had an awful experience
A real let down to Audi really. I got the feeling that because I was from Northern Ireland they wanted me in the showroom and away in the car as soon as possible and I couldnt come back and complain etc.

I know its a bit off topic but my rage for them is so bad that I had to mention it.

    Hi Chris
You needed to get it off you chest, just like me and hope other people read and make an enlightened judgement on to use or not to use this dealership. This is what this type of forum is all about. I'm sure the dealers also read these forums.

something like that concerning an mot item should be dealt with by contacting vosa. the details are on the mot paperwork. if something fails when there is clearly no reason to fail it, vosa can contact the garage concerned. they can also send their own vehicles for an mot with known faults to see how the tester performs. if they did that to a vosa vehicle, then their mot licence would be in jeopardy.
