    Do I need to short out the distributor in order to return it to it's static timing setting so I can set the cam timing correctly, how do I short it?

    I have a 2000 model transporter, 2.5 ltr 5 cyl petrol, By short out I mean do I need to earth a wire from the distributor to be able to set the timing....

    The engine must be put into basic setting,you can then use a stroboscope.the TDC mark O is on the flywheel (accessed through the hole on top of the gearbox) Setting figure: 6 ± 1° before TDC,

    Thanx Kenney, I sorted it and put around 700 k's on the old girl over the weekend, she ran smooth as new....
