My steering wheel has started to make a funny noise when I turn it, sounds like a sweet wrapper is stuck behind it. Have had a good look at there is nothing obviously stuck.

Anyone come across this before and found a fix, or do I need to go and see my local VW dealer?

    Thanks

I don't think there are many clairvoyants or esp's on here you haven't said a particular model. A good idea would be to put your exact model details in your signature?

    Google it my next choice.

I know its probably best to take it to the dealer, its just a hassle to book it in etc.

The steering racks on Golfs (and A3s) are notorious for making creaking noises when turning, especially towards the end of its lock.

I had this on my old A3, and the only solution is to get them to replace the rack under warranty.
