    Hi all,
I've recently bypassed my EGR valve on my 2002 1.9tdi 130bhp A4 Avant after reading through many previous posts from other forum members that have also done so with no negative effects. This was done by removing the vac hose and plugging the hose with a 10mm bolt as suggested.

The reason I have done this is due to oil venting through the two small vent holes underneath the silver 'flying saucer/top of EGR valve.'
This oil/gunk over time has made a right mess down the back of my engine and occasionally leaves a dirty stain on my drive!
However, since bypassing the EGR, I feel the car is pulling better throughout the rev range. Is this at all possible or is it likely to just be in my mind? I also thought that my MPG has improved slightly according to my DIS???

Finally, has anyone got any tips for cleaning out the inside of the EGR/manifold area to get rid of all the black oily mess?
    Thanks,
    Davie.

Negligable difference, it's more of a preventative mod.

EGR - make sure you get a new gasket to go between the 2 bits of metal, the 3 (or 4) allen key bolts are a bugger to get to, so be patient. Also, wear old clothes!
