    Hi,

This is my first post, please be gentle!! I have just bought a 2006 A6 2.0 TDI SE with MMI High, which has the voice command button on the steering wheel. The SW version is 28.3.0 0612. I am really confused on 2 counts (and the manual doesn't help at all, in fact the commands in the manual are different to the ones the car accepts).....

    1. It seems that voice activation is only active for the telephone functions. Could this be true? If I had a software update might the voice activation work across all functions?

    2. I have managed to wipe the phonebook clean, and then reprogram in my home number. Using the 'normal' commands (Select Name>Name>Dial) I can get the number to call, but for some reason if I ask for 'Radio' then it seems to shortcut all these commands and dials the number, anybody know what it is doing?

    Thanks in advance

    Bob

you need to encode for voice activation as there are two, but you must check you have voice control installed
the bt (address 77)unit has voice prompts and additionally there is the voice control unit (address 67)
Ask your dealer to check if you have the additional voice control for mmi settings as the bt (phone) voice prompts are standard where as voice control is additional

My guess is that it is misinterpreting the word "Radio" as the command "Redial", which will simply dial the last called number from the car.

Makes sense. If Bob has only phone voice commands available, Redial would be the closest sounding phone command to Radio.
