New springs on old dampers looks right but rides wrong. You need a kit with appropriately shortened dampers and shortened front and rear bump stops.

Coilovers tend to be a lot harder than a set of conventional springs and fixed dampers. Coilovers use universal small diameter racing style springs and dampers with adjustable seats so the ride height can be varied but they are an acquired taste and the quality is variable, there is a lot of terrible quality Chinese rubbish out their at the moment. If you want a quality suspension kit or coil over kit, consider Weitec or Vogtland.

cheers for tht my mate kinda took a shortcut and it seems to work very well. All he did was to lower the car 35 mm on i dunno if i have spelled this right but eibach or something like tht, these are apparently VW stock srpings or something and they do not ruin the ride if you just lower it on the springs, they only cost £150 as apposed to £1000 for a decent sus kit.... good idea?

h@r do a comfort kit lowers 30f/r or sport which rides slighty harder but you get better road handling 50f/40 r choice is yours

Apparently you cant lower a car more than 40 mm without adjusting other things like front supports etc... I assume best way to make the car handle better would be to lower it 35mm alround, so i wouldnt have to mess around with teh whole set up...
