Alarm: intermittant hazard lights flashing

This problem has only started recently (on my usually reliable W reg Avant 2.4SE). When I set the alarm using the key fob remote everything goes as per normal, but then sometimes after a while the hazard lights start flashing (but no audible alarm). I have tried locking it with the key, and this seems ok except today it did flash for a little while and then stopped by itself. I can't see that it would be simply that the keyfob needs a new battery - surely they either work or they don't? I think I read somewhere that the switch associated with the boot or bonnet might be at fault and needs cleaning. I have always had to slam the boot lid to lock it properly and so have my suspicions about that switch. So has anybody had this problem or can suggest what the solution might be?

Could be the cars battery on it's way out. My alarm was playing up for a few months, really bugged workshop as they couldn't work it out, sometimes it would work others not. It was sometimes alarming when computer said all doors were locked . Then when the battery finally died (suddenly). New battery fitted all was well. Strange but true>

first thing is to get diag test done and this will tell you what has set the alarm off in measuring block 15 or 16
