hi. sorry did not make a difference back to square one! i have been told it might be gearbox but i still think it is air trapped in the system, i spoke to a gearbox specialist and he said it is not the gearbox but seems to think it is airlock on the master slave! he said it can be nightmare to bleed sometimes. please keep me informed if you hear any thing.

master slave! been told to pime the master slave with clutch fluid before fitting or bleed at the master slave to make sure that there is no trapped air, but you had one new fitted by v.w! so i dont know if it could have air did you have this problem before you fitted the new clutch cos mine was fine before i had a new clutch this only started after i had it replaced

mk5 2.0 Were VW the last people to bleed the system. Bleeding these is quite complicated sometimes. You need a pressure bleeder and you still need to pump the clutch pedal by hand. You could try the following...Open the slave cylinder bleed valve and put a pipe on it to catch fluid. Leave it open all day and just keep topping up the reservoir. Don't touch any pedals just let gravity do it's job. I have seen this work on brakes when everything else has failed. Good luck.
