Hi all, as a newcomer I would welcome some advice on my daughters 1.6 Beetle. Randomly when driving the EPC and ESP lights come on and the car loses all power, sometimes right down to a hunting idle with no response at all to throttle inputs. Undriveable. Key off and back on clears the fault and it drives fine till the next time.
It has been in main dealers several times and following scans, over some time the throttle pedal, brake light switch, coolant temp sender, throttle control body, air inlet hose and throttle control wiring have all been replaced to no avail as the problem eventually returns.
An auto scan gave the faults below.

    Address 01: Engine
    Controller: 06A 906 033 AK
    Component: SIMOS33 1.6l 2V 00HS4039
    Coding: 00031
    Shop #: WSC 00066
    WVWZZZ9CZ2M635729 VWZ5Z0B1277377
    3 Faults Found:
17950 - Angle Sensor 1 for Throttle Actuator (G187): Implausible Signal
    P1542 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17579 - Angle Sensor 2 for Throttle Actuator (G188) Implausible Signal
    P1171 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17950 - Angle Sensor 1 for Throttle Actuator (G187): Implausible Signal
    P1542 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
    Readiness: 0010 1001
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Address 03: ABS Brakes
    Controller: 1C0 907 379 G
    Component: ESP FRONT MK60 0101
    Coding: 0011266
    Shop #: WSC 00066
    1 Fault Found:
    01314 - Engine Control Module
    013 - Check DTC Memory - Intermittent

From the Ross Tech site it says that the engine control module fault code can influence other control modules functionality.Could this be the case here ? It also says one must correct the problem in the engine control module before the fault will clear, how do you actually do that ?
What actually are the angle sensors 1 and 2. Is this the throttle pedal ?
Given the parts she has had replaced already and the intermittent nature of the problem, we would welcome suggestions as to how best to proceed to diagnose the problem.
Thank you for any help you are able to offer.

    Towcestervag,

That was supposedly checked and the loom 'repaired' by the main dealer some time ago.
Can that now be checked using the Vag com or do we need to get a wiring diagram and physically check each wires continuity ?
As this is an intermittant fault will it show up this way.
    Thanks for your interest..
